is a photographer and cinematographer who grew up and currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. After initially studying Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he earned a degree in Film Studies, and continues to draw inspiration from both natural and scientific environments with his work. Following college he embarked on a solo cross-country journey of the United States via bicycle traversing from the Badlands of South Dakota through the Rocky Mountains to California. He also traveled for three summers documenting a team of storm chasers, averaging 8,000 miles over two week intervals as they crisscrossed the country in search of tornadoes. His work as an image-maker has allowed him to travel to over 50 countries on 6 continents and document a wide array of cultures, landscapes and the people who inhabit them. Unique relationships exist within his work where a delicate balance takes place between documentary and narrative, oftentimes blurring the lines and combining elements of each. Another theme present in much of his work involves conversations between the naturally occurring world and man-made structures. Oftentimes it can be seen through the lens of an intimate outsider, where humans are viewed directly and indirectly as they navigate through, build upon and change the world around them. A commonality in it all is a reverence for both the world and all life contained in and around it, from tiny organisms to distant stars. This micro and macro worldview defines not only his work, but also his ability to look deeply at the changing world around him and to capture moments that are honest on the surface and transcend daily rituals and acts into glimpses of the human spirit in action.
